Student Writing Prompts Providing Great Insight

Student Writing Prompts Providing Great Insight
Image: Pieces from a Scrabble game spelling out the word "Equity"As was mentioned in an early October News Brief, all sophomores, juniors, and seniors were invited to participate in a writing prompt in their English classes during the Week of Respect. Every one of these prompts was read by a small group of teachers, counselors, and administrators in each building, and these groups recommended that more members of the faculty also hear students’ perspectives. To that end, the entire faculty will be spending a portion of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. professional development day reading and discussing these prompts in small groups.

One component of these prompts gave students the option to participate in further discussions around equity and inclusivity. After Thanksgiving break, our student and family resource liaisons will reach out to interested students to establish small focus groups. If any student did not initially indicate an interest, but would now like to participate, please reach out to Dr. Myers at Pascack Valley or Ms. Franceski at Pascack Hills.
