Assessment Philosophy

Authentic learning experiences that enable students to apply content knowledge, develop digital citizenship skills, and collaborate with other students as they prepare for the 21st-century workplace. The natural integration of business education into the students high school experience allows those students to appreciate cultural diversity, workplace readiness, and critical thinking. The Business Department believes that good assessment is rooted in student feedback that goes beyond a "grade". To that end the amount of time given to assessing student work is proportionate to the level and amount of work put in by the students. Good feedback takes time to develop and as such the recording of a "grade" will be determined based on the size, level, and complexity of the assessment.
