Superintendent's Message

District Vision:  To create a culture of innovation, inquiry, and individuality that promotes achievement and choice by cultivating the skills needed to compete and collaborate as ethical and responsible global citizens.

District Mission Statement:  The mission of the PVRHSD is to prepare our students for successful college and/or career experiences with the needed mindset, skills, structures, and knowledge to accomplish that goal.

District Assessment Philosophy:  To check for understanding and/or competency of curriculum standards using a balance of methods that give useful feedback to inform growth.

Using departmental specific methods under the leadership of the departmental supervisor, this feedback leads to a summative grade which is an evaluation of student competency with the curriculum and associated standards.

Welcome to the Pascack Valley Regional High School District!

The Pascack Valley Regional High School District is truly as special place where the board and staff strives to provide our students with innovative instruction, a versatile framework, and educational resources for our students to develop the skills and obtain knowledge they will need to pursue their passions and advance toward their future goals.

Initiatives to Realize our Vision

The Pascack Schedule:

Our master schedule is designed to promote independence and encourage our students to engage in non-traditional educational opportunities that have otherwise not been available until now. It is a schedule unique to the needs of our students and our district’s needs. The schedule boasts expanded learning blocks, a rotating daily schedule, common lunch, and the opportunity for students to make decisions about how they would like to personalize their own learning opportunities via the Pascack period. For more information on the details of the Pascack Schedule, please visit (The Pascack Schedule)

1:1 Laptop Initiative:

First launched in 2003, the 1:1 Initiative has transformed the way our teachers teach and our students learn. Students utilizing the technology at their fingertips just as those in the workforce utilize technology to access information, collaborate with colleagues, share knowledge with others, and present learned experiences and knowledge to others. The educational resources and enhancements that the 1:1 Initiative provides for our students is so valuable as we strive to further enhance 21st century skills among our students. (1:1 eLearning Initiative)

Virtual School Day:

Our 1:1 initiative has also allowed our district to model innovative practices for our students. One such example was during a February 13, 2014 snowstorm. Our students and teachers alike proved once again that they are a progressive, innovative and forward-thinking team of learners. Our district looks forward to working with our students and our New Jersey Department of Education to expand on this unique experience for more students and districts to take advantage of in the future. Teachers who demonstrate innovative practice translate into students who will take calculated risks and not be afraid to occasionally fail. Recognition & National Involvement:

Our collective efforts to enhance the educational experiences and opportunities for our students has been recognized by officials in New Jersey and nationally. This past year, the Pascack Valley Regional High School District was selected to be a member of Digital Promise’s “League of Innovative Schools.” Our selection to this group of 42 districts reinforces that officials around the nation are recognizing our district as an innovative learning environment that is continually seeking more engaging and meaningful educational experiences for our students. (

In addition to our admission to the “League of Innovative Schools,” we have also been invited to work with “Innovate NJ.” Innovate NJ is a group of progressive school districts that are committed to supporting one another in the exploration and implementation of innovative instructional practices and programs.

I am proud to say that we are continually improving the way we educate our students, as evidenced by the recognition we have received from Digital Promise, the New Jersey Department of Education, as well as receiving Apple's "Schools of Distinction" award for the sixth year in a row. Finally, our district is getting involved in the President’s “Connect Ed” initiative and will be participating in a superintendent’s summit in Washington D.C. in the Fall. ( )

I look forward to an exciting year for our students! Our schools are successful in large part because we have an exceptionally progressive staff of educators, a supportive school community, and motivated students!

I urge you to reach out to any staff member or me if you have any concerns regarding our district. Our lines of communication are open and we look forward to hearing from you. On behalf of the teachers, support staff, and administrators in the Pascack Valley Regional High School District, we thank you for your ongoing support of our schools!
