The English department, led by District English Supervisor Mrs. Virena Rossi, is pleased to announce our district Summer Reading Program for 2018.  Aligned with the English department's goals, the Summer Reading Program provides students with an opportunity to share a common reading experience related to their respective curricula, practice reading comprehension skills, cultivate fluency by reading independently, engage in meaningful conversations about themes in text, and analyze an author's writing style.  All students participate in our Summer Reading Program, with follow-up discussions and assignments due at the beginning of the school year.

This year, our students will be reading the following books based on their incoming grade level:
  • Grade 9 - Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds
  • Grade 10 - City of Thieves by David Benioff
  • Grades 11 and 12 - Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be by Frank Bruni

Complete information about our Summer Reading Program is included in this PDF located on our English department website.
