The Pascack Valley Regional High School District is pleased to announce that 16 members of the Class of 2019 have been named Commended Students in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students are recognized for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.

In addition, two Pascack Hills students received special distinctions:

  • Jade Greenberg was named a National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist.  Semifinalists named in each year’s Merit Scholarship competition show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
  • Jenna Chiavelli was named a National Hispanic Scholar.  Roughly 5,000 students out of potentially 400,000+ students receive this honor.

A Letter of Commendation from the schools and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, were presented by our principals to these scholastically talented seniors.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized this year for their academic achievements. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2019 competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

We are incredibly proud of these students for this outstanding achievement.
