Pascack Hills SIA Donation Drive for Ukraine
Graphic: Jonathan Mathew & Jake Agranovich, PH StudentsOn March 24, 2022, President Biden announced that the United States would be welcoming up to 100,000 refugees who were fleeing Ukraine and that $1 billion would be donated to help European countries facing a humanitarian crisis.  In response to this announcement by the White House, the Student Immigrant Alliance, a student organization at Pascack Hills, conducted a donation drive to collect items to be distributed to both Ukrainian refugees entering the US and to be sent directly to Ukraine.

Toiletries, personal hygiene items, goods for babies, clothing, and medicines were collected.  The members of the SIA also worked with the fashion class to cut and sew bags for personal toiletries to be packed and distributed to the refugees.  A generous donation of medicines such as cough drops, anti-inflammatories, and Benadryl being requested at the front lines was contributed by the PH Cares club, and toiletries/personal hygiene items for women were also contributed to the drive as well by Interact.  Donation boxes were also placed at the Montvale Borough Hall for community members to drop off goods for the collection drive.  The SIA’s Ukrainian drive was truly a collaborative effort by the entire Pascack Hills community!
