We are pleased to announce the 2017-2018 Teacher and Educational Services Professionals of the year for Pascack Hills and Pascack Valley High Schools!  This year, we recognize Mr. Kevin Killian (Pascack Hills) and Mr. Kenneth Sarajian (Pascack Valley) as our Teachers of the Year.  Our Educational Services Professionals of the Year are Nurse Rose Welyczko (Pascack Hills) and Mr. Frank Andrisani (Guidance Counselor, Pascack Valley).

When recognizing each teacher and professional in their respective classrooms and offices, Superintendent Gundersen shared quotes from students and colleagues who nominated the recipients.  Below, are a few of these quotes, which best describe the character of the recipients, and their impact on our school community.

Killian recognized as Hills Teacher of the Year
"Mr. Killian devotes so much time and effort into making sure his students, and even students that are not in his class, succeed. He has taught me physics, math, english, and helped with my college applications despite only being Pre-Calc teacher." -- Student

Sarajian wins Valley Teacher of the Year
"Walk by his classroom on any given day and you will hear kids laughing and see [Mr. Sarajian] teaching with a level of enthusiasm that is tough to match. He makes me want to be a better teacher and he makes his kids want to study history. " -- Colleague

Nurse Rose wins Ed Services Professional of the Year
"A vital contributor to both the SGA and I&RS committees, [Nurse] Rose gets right at the heart of a problem, dissects it and develops an intervention plan in short order. She has her hand on the pulse of the entire student community." -- Colleague

Andrisani wins Ed Services Professional of the Year
"Although [Mr. Andrisani] doesn’t lead a classroom he affects his students as much as their teachers. He helps them survive difficult classes, peer pressure, and other problems that go against their odds for success. Mr. Andrisani is a good listener and relates to his students with honesty and an open mind." -- Colleague

We congratulate all of this year's recipients who reflect some of the best aspects of what our schools have to offer.
