Does a student receive credit for taking a Virtual High School class?

Yes. A student will receive five credits for a full year class and two and a half credits for a semester class. The student’s grade will also be incorporated into his/her GPA.

How many Virtual High School classes can a student take?

A student is permitted to take one Virtual High School class per semester.

What grade levels are permitted to take a Virtual High School class?

Students entering grades ten, eleven, and twelve for the 2016 - 2017 school year will be able to submit their application.

Is there a specific number of classes a student must take at Pascack Hills/Valley?

Yes. A student must be enrolled in at least six classes that are offered in the school building.

What happens if a student drops a Virtual High School class?

We do not expect students to drop a Virtual High School course once they have made a commitment to enroll. Students will be carefully pre-screened to ascertain their level of motivation and ability to succeed in an online environment. Also, other students may have been denied the opportunity to enroll due to our limited number of seats.

How many seats will be available to students at each high school?

We will offer twenty-five seats per semester or fifty seats (annually) in each building.

What kind of courses will Virtual High School offer for our students?

With the additional of VHS, Pascack Valley Regional High School District will be able to offer seventy-three (in 2013, hundreds of) additional classes to our curriculum.

Will students be assigned a specific classroom for their VHS class?

Students will be assigned a study hall for attendance purposes.

How can I register for a VHS course?

A student must visit the school guidance website and complete an application. Upon completion of the application, he/she must submit it to the guidance counselor.

Who can a student contact if he/she is having concerns about their class or VHS instructor?

Pascack Valley Regional High School District will provide a “Site Coordinator” in each building. This individual will act as a liaison between the individual schools and VHS. He/she will have constant communication between the student, VHS and the student’s guidance counselor.
