Crisis Hotline
The Pascack Valley Regional High School District is committed to the wellness of our students and staff, and starting today we are providing additional support through a 24/7 immediate connection to trained crisis counselors for whatever difficult or confusing situations they, or someone they know, may need help with.
Through our new ReachOut Crisis Hotline, students and staff are able to engage in anonymous* conversations through a voice call, text, or WebChat whenever they, or someone they know, need support.
Students and staff can access this support by:
-
Calling or texting: 201-817-1809
-
In an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest crisis center or emergency department.
*Anonymous - Anyone calling into this number has the option to remain anonymous; however, they will be asked for their name in case of more serious or imminent situations that could need intervention.
Here are just a few examples of the supports available through this crisis line:
-
Suicidal thoughts: In these situations, the person’s level of risk is assessed to determine the severity of the situation and to help inform them of the appropriate next steps.
-
Emotional support: Students/staff feeling depressed or overwhelmed can find support and guidance on how to navigate their feelings about their situation.
-
Processing difficult circumstances: Support allowing a person to be heard is crucial when navigating a divorce, feeling of loneliness or other difficult circumstance.
-
Grief and loss: Dealing with the loss of a loved one can be incredibly challenging. This support provides a safe and confidential space to express emotions.
We encourage all students and staff needing support to use the ReachOut service.
